Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour title, took control to push for a final set.

He defended four early chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
